Twitter is famous for only allowing 140 characters, but it’s important to remember to include pictures and/or videos. Research has shown that tweets that include pictures got a 35% increase in Retweets. Tweets with videos had a 28% increase. It’s quick and easy to upload a photo or video to a tweet, and it increases your chances of viewers heading over to your presentation website.

Write a Tease

The most effective way to get people to click over to your content is to set up a cliffhanger. When writing your tweet, think of a creative way to pitch your presentation. Make your audience curious about your presentation, so that they are inclined to view it. Using a question or call to action are great ways to hook in your reader.

Less is More

Only having 140 characters may not sound like a lot, and for some cases it isn’t. But you will have to think smaller than that. One researcher found that tweets between 120 and 130 characters have the highest click-through rate.

Be Consistent

It takes time to build up a Twitter following and to see click-through rate results. Try your best to be consistent, and don’t be afraid to tweet out the same presentation more than once. You want to avoid going overboard, but because Twitter is constantly updating with other users’ content, it is likely some of your followers missed your original tweet. Remember to change up the setup for the second or third post. You can pull a quote or use a different photo. Make sure there is enough time in between the same content; by scheduling your tweets on HubSpot or HootSuite, you can ensure there are not back to back repeats.

Make Connections

Mentioning other twitter users in your industry and sharing presentations with them can help you down the road. Even if it’s your competitor, share some content of theirs and they will return the favor in time. This will create a larger network for you to be a member of. And you will also be providing more valuable content for your audience, which they will appreciate.

Adding hashtags throughout your tweets is almost vital to getting your tweet noticed. In every one of my tweets, I include hashtags and tend to see others retweet me based of that alone. There are ways to track your hashtag or find the most popular ones. Using the same hashtag over and over will make your tweets more likely to show up in a Twitter search, which exposes more viewers to your presentation.
