Introverts May Actually Be Better Presenters

My dad is the type of person who can’t walk through Wal-Mart without running into someone he knows. What was intended to be a 10-minute trip always turns into an hour adventure. He is what most would call an extrovert. My mom is an unapologetic introvert. Some might say that this personality trait comes with many downsides. But a study discovered that companies led by introverts actually achieve higher performance measures than those run by extroverts. Taking this concept from the corporate field to the presentation stage, we decided to compare the value introverts provide across situations and scenarios.

Preparation

The most introverted presenters place emphasis on quality research. They won’t be satisfied with a cursory Google search of their topic. They’ll consult journals, studies, and may even visit the library. No stone will be unturned. An introvert will have the data and information to back up every main point mentioned and every statement uttered. In addition, introverted presenters will tend to have a better professional reputation than their extroverted counterparts.

Collaboration

According to an Entrepreneur article, studies have proven that introverts are more collaborative than their extroverted peers. It could be that extroverted individuals prefer to present their own ideas rather than discuss amongst others. You could expect to take part in many discussion sections if attending an introverted presenter’s event.

Independence

On the same hand, introverted presenters have no problem working alone. They can generate just as many ideas by themselves as they can in the midst of a group of people. An introverted presenter will always be able to approach his or her topic with a new and exciting perspective.

Observation

The beauty of the introverted presenter is their ability to listen attentively. During a presentation Q&A, audience members can expect an engaged presenter who hears out all of their comments and concerns.

Reflection

Furthermore, an introverted presenter will effectively and efficiently gather their thoughts before responding to questions. This allows them to contribute detailed ideas and determinations.

Depth

Introverts will typically rally around a few, good friends versus a horde of acquaintances. Introverts who are also avid presenters will probably opt for smaller venues and crowds.

Innovation

Research has placed introverts at the top of the innovation throne. All of the qualities outlined above foster creative thinking.
