4 Creative PowerPoint Template Themes to Inspire You

When you download a template, you download an empty shell. A template needs to be filled with ideas that matter and meaningful imagery in order to meet your goal, no matter if you’re building a pitch presentation or a catalog of your company products.

If you know you need something creative, you already have a template, but you don’t know where to start: you are in luck. We’ve created four different themes that you can use as a starting point to help shape your content and add different design elements. Each suggested theme comes with a brief example story to give you a kick of inspiration.

4 Creative PowerPoint Template Themes to Inspire You

What kind of themes are we talking about here?

Nature

Let’s say you have a pitch presentation to raise money for a brand new medical software. Why not use the creative metaphor of “growth” that comes naturally to a presentation that uses plant imagery and gardening terminology? You can title the presentation “Planting the Right Seeds,” then use words such as “water,” “tend,” “seedlings,” and “growth” to describe your vision of the medical software spreading after being “nurtured” by investor dollars.

Time

If you have a more conservative presentation, such as an investment firm trying to provide a company overview before landing a partnership, “time” might be a perfect theme to help drive home your main ideas without getting too metaphorical. In this theme, you paint a vision of what the future might be like for your audience. Is your partnership going to create positive change for local families? Is the city you work in going to be positively impacted? Describe in detail how the future will change and the past will alter, and keep this at the core of your overall theme.

Personal Journey

In this theme, you use a story of a real life (or fictional) character to show how your company or idea works. Let’s use an example of a person who wants to open a local health food store and needs investor funding. They could show a real-life person who struggled with health problems in the past, and then describe their journey to wellness using the products and services that the health food store will provide. Weaving a narrative through your template is that simple, and it is massively effective to provide an emotional impact.

Urban

If painting the future or garden metaphors are still too creative, then consider using abstract images of cityscape textures paired with minimal content. Choose photos that represent the world around your audience; the buildings they know, the views they expect, and etc. This way, you address them directly through visuals to help relate to their understanding of the world. It’s a clean, simple tactic that doesn’t need a lot of design know-how to accomplish. For example, if you wanted to deliver a presentation about how analytics affects modern business, an urban theme would be a perfect way to visually summarize how businesses work together in different cities around the world.
