Inspired by Rocky: The Story of Our B2B Marketing Presentation

One of the most essential content marketing strategies is to learn what your audience is searching for on the web. Then, you can create helpful assets that address these needs in order to drive traffic and boost your site’s visibility.

How does this work for Ethos3? We start by considering all of the different places where presentations are used in the real-world. In this case, our clients use presentations to showcase products and services to other businesses. Hence: B2B marketing. That in mind, reaching B2B marketers online is all about putting on that lens and considering their concerns and questions.

With a strong right hook and a jab, “How To Be A B2B Marketing Champion” was born.

This gorgeous design asset with a “Rocky” theme has racked up thousands of views on SlideShare, and is also a great example of content marketing that is made with the audience in mind. How can you harness this same strategy and create gorgeous assets for yourself?

Who Are Your Customers?

For Ethos3, our customers are people who deliver presentations or speeches in any capacity. Professors, salespeople, keynote speakers, and of course B2B marketers are all included in this list. Do the homework for your own industry. For example, if you run a French bakery in your town, your primary clientele might be women looking for a fast coffee date. It might also be families looking to buy bread throughout the week, or people stopping in for a treat after they hit the mall. Create profiles for each of these customers, and consider the profiles of the people you see regularly. Who are they? What do they like?

What Do They Google?

When we created this marketing piece, we assumed that B2B marketers would be looking for general strategies to boost their skills. Maybe they’re browsing for resources, maybe they just need a little inspiration. In this case, we wanted to cast a wide net around people looking for “B2B marketing.” But let’s say you run a local doggy daycare, and want to reach pet owners who are looking for boutique pet care. You might create pieces about the best shampoos for finicky dogs, the most comfortable dog beds, and etc. No matter what they are searching for, you should be there providing an answer for their question.

Land The Design

Our deck is a gorgeous mix of bright red hues, photography, and illustration. And while it’s not necessary that you copy this style for your own efforts, consider getting some professional design help to develop special “evergreen” projects. That way, you can use slides or images from the project to post individually on places like Facebook and Twitter. Revisiting the French bakery example, creating a presentation with a guide to different French breads can be pulled apart as individual posts to highlight each treat.

In order to make a marketing piece that sticks, it’s crucial that you both address your audience’s needs and incorporate gorgeous design to pull them in. With its design roots in Rocky and its helpful tone, “How To Be A B2B Marketing Champion” is a great example of these techniques in action.
