New LinkedIn Features To Help You Succeed in 2016

New LinkedIn Features To Help You Succeed in 2016

If you’re a public speaker or an ambitious professional, your LinkedIn profile is probably your most valuable online real estate. As a LinkedIn enthusiast, you’ll be happy to know your favorite networking portal is evolving in exciting ways. Here are some of the new features that are making LinkedIn even more useful and easy to use.

1. Autoplay Videos

If you’re trying to develop your personal brand, you need to leverage modern marketing techniques to grow your audience and spread your message on LinkedIn. Ask any marketing professional and they will likely all agree that video is currently the most powerful tool for online marketing. It seems that everyone loves to watch videos online; even busy professionals enjoy consuming video content.

75% of business executives watch at least one work-related video each week, and 54% of senior executives share at least one work-related video with colleagues every week. In addition, eight out of ten millennials reference videos when researching a product or service.

Check out some of the additional stats that point to the power of visual content for online marketing:

When you upload video content to YouTube or Vimeo, and share the video link in a LinkedIn update, your videos will now autoplay in the LinkedIn newsfeed, thanks to a recent update. With an autoplay video, you can expect engagement with your updates to increase dramatically. As a result, your personal brand will gain additional exposure that hopefully leads to new opportunities.

2. Improved Group Experience

Participating in LinkedIn Groups is great way to make new contacts and increase views of your profile.

Muse contributor Aja Frost reportedly increased the number of people looking at her LinkedIn profile by 425% after she strategically joined and participated in LinkedIn groups. Since page views can result in job opportunities, new connections, and more visibility in your industry, increasing views of your profile is a worthwhile pursuit.

Here are some of the recent updates to LinkedIn Groups:

–     More engaging, high-quality conversations: Now you can add images to your posts and mention other group members — making posts more visual and engaging. You’ll also notice less clutter in the form of spam and promotional content within the Groups you participate in.

–     Access anytime, anywhere: Join or continue conversations wherever you are with the new iOS app. The new app also gives group owners the ability to manage their group conversations and members on the fly.

–     Conversations with people you trust: A conversation can be more valuable when it’s shared within a trusted space, so group conversations will now only be visible to group members. To bring new voices to the table, group members can invite members of their network to join in the conversation.

3. Enhanced Messaging

You might have already noticed the facelift LinkedIn messages recently received. With a chat-style interface, back and forth messaging is now easier than ever which means building relationships via LinkedIn is a much more pleasant experience.

Here are a few upgrades you can enjoy with LinkedIn messaging:

–     Organized inbox: Your LinkedIn inbox is now organized around the people that matter the most to you, which means you’ll be able to easily reference the last conversation you had right within the thread.

–     Improved notifications: Enhanced push and email notifications now make it easier for you to stay on top of the conversations that are most relevant and important to you.

–     Visual communication: In addition to being able to attach photos and documents to your messages, now you can also add stickers, emojis and GIFs to insert a little extra personality into your conversations.

Conclusion

If you’re using LinkedIn to develop your thought leadership platform, join more LinkedIn groups, and also add videos to your updates. In addition, nurture relationships with people in your network by communicating via the new and improved LinkedIn messaging. While you’re at it, beef up the skills listed on your LinkedIn profile; recruiters can now search for candidates by their skills.
