Does it get any better than Gorgeous Georgie? George C. Scott does an excellent job at portraying General Patton in his speech to the Third Army on June 5, 1944, the day before D-day.
Content
Patton knows how to deliver a speech. The beginning is excellent:
"Now, I want you to remember that no bastard even won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."
It gets even more descriptive:
"When you put your hand into a bunch of good that a moment before was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do."
Classic. I love it! The ending is great as well.
"Alright now, you sons-of-bitches, you know how I feel. Oh, and I will be proud to lead you wonderful guys into battle - anytime, anywhere."
Wow!
Design
Just another classic movie clip. No design to be critiqued here. However, I have to admit that I love the flag background. Simple and engaging.
Delivery
Spoken with passion and conviction just like all the other great speeches of our time.
