Ethos3’s Review of Vimodi

We’re always trying to stay on top of the latest trends in presentation tools and software, lest we lose our illustrious title of “Presentation Experts.” One iPad app that has been gaining a lot of attention is Vimodi, which offers some unique ways to create and deliver sleek, dynamic presentations. We tested app to see its features and came to a few conclusions. So, is it worth trying out?

The Overview

Vimodi’s design controls are simple and intuitive. It’s best feature is that it allows presenters to move more freely around in their presentation, creating a natural, “conversational” feel. Instead of the presentation being exclusively linear, you can easily customize the order of the presentation on the fly. This is useful if you need to adjust content or flow for different audiences who may only need to see some of the information in your deck. The non-linear navigation also allows you to jump around within hidden supporting content slides. This is especially useful if someone seems interested in an aspect of your presentation and would like to see more of the nuts and bolts. If slides or information aren’t important to the way your conversation is going, you can easily skip them; the audience will never even know they were there.

The Best Parts

Vimodi offers seamless integration of media straight from your Dropbox, which includes PDFs, videos, and images. They also work with other iPad apps like Keynote, PowerPoint, Pages, Email, Photos, Safari, GoogleSlides, and more. It only takes a few clicks to import and access content, including images from the iPad Camera Roll itself. The ability to quickly drop in videos is also a plus. Another great feature? You don’t need wifi to present your presentation. And finally, project media source lets you copy and reuse pages between projects.

The Downside(s)

You can’t currently edit existing content on a particular slide within Vimodi. Instead, you move things around and swap updated slides in and out. Also, if you tend to use a lot of animations in PowerPoint or Keynote, Vimodi doesn’t currently support them. Finally, the fact that not everyone has an iPad might polarize people from using it.

The Conclusion

Overall, we found this to be a worthwhile presentation app for the iPad. Its smooth, easy navigation is a great way to view a slideshow of your existing slides, media, and work in a more creative way.

Question: Would you consider testing out the Vimodi app?
