Ethos3 Tech Review: RescueTime Productivity Tool

Presenters are often required to juggle all of the tasks associated with writing, designing and delivering a compelling presentation, which can add up to a big chunk of time and energy.  We tested RescueTime, an online time management and productivity tracking tool, to determine if it can help presenters manage their busy schedules, and ultimately have more time to prepare for their presentations, or tackle other items on their to-do list.

For presenters, a few more hours each week would make it possible to do the tasks that often fall off the priority list as the presentation deadline approaches, such as rehearsing the presentation a few more times, getting more sleep, and double-checking technical equipment.

So the question is, can RescueTime really rescue time for presenters, or other busy individuals?  Our answer is “Maybe.” Watch the video below to see why:

RescueTime Details and Features

Summary:  RescueTime is a web-based time management and productivity tracking tool that logs your online activity on your computer and displays the data in a variety of charts, graphs and detailed reports.  RescueTime also gives you the opportunity to manually enter offline activities from the dashboard, or a pop-up window that appears if you stop using your computer for more than a short period of time.  RescueTime is compatible with both Mac and Windows.

Getting started is easy; simply download the small application, and adjust the settings to fit your preferences. The app run will run in the background and immediately start logging your online activities into your RescueTime dashboard and reports.
