7 Questions with… Dave Delaney

1.     What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘presentation’?

Compelling Story Telling.

2.     Tell us about one of the best presentations you’ve ever seen, and why it was so memorable.

I saw Garr Reynolds’ Presentation Zen in Nashville a few years ago. His clear and simple slides helped to support his stories without distracting me.

3.      What’s something that automatically makes you think “No!” during a presentation?

Depending on an internet connection.

 4.      If you could see only one person (dead or alive) give a presentation, who would it be and why?

It’s a tie between Andy Kaufman and Steve Jobs.

5.     Describe the role of story in your business life.

I have spent years establishing my personal brand. The tale of how I have networked successfully throughout my career is one I love to share. Without a solid network, I would not have a success digital marketing consultancy today.

6.     If you could give a presenter just one piece of advice, what would it be?

Use your deck to support your story, but you must BE the story.

7.     What’s next for you?

I have some private speaking engagements coming up soon. I am also hoping to be presenting at SXSW Interactive again this year. I hope to speak more about professional networking and digital marketing at conferences soon.
