A Critique of Sally Field

PLEASE NOTE:  This is an uncensored version of Sally Field’s Emmy Acceptance Speech.  She does use a controversial word, so consider yourself warned.
Summary

This piece is a bit dated, but it created lots of controversy just a few months ago.  Nonetheless, it made an impact which makes it a speech worth hearing again.

Content

Sally was obviously well-prepared and polished.  In the words of Jerry Maguire, she had me at “hello.”  Plus, her end statement was unforgettable:

“If mothers ruled the world…”

That’s powerful stuff!

Design

No design to be critiqued on this one.

Delivery

Sally has great delivery.  She is articulate, passionate, and full of conviction with a bit of vulnerability.  It’s a very honest delivery which makes it memorable.
